Our mission

Cloudbase Foundation grew out of a simple idea: the free flight community is uniquely placed to help the people who live where we fly. The communities beneath the world's flying sites are part of what makes the sport possible, and many face real challenges in daily life.

We're a foundation, not a field team. We don't run projects or arrive with our own agenda. Local communities tell us what they need most, and we mobilize the free flight community and our partners to fund it — in education, health, community, wildlife, and infrastructure.

We focus where the need is greatest: Central and South America, South and Southeast Asia, and Africa. Every project is community-led, tracked, and reported; and funding is renewed when needed and impact is greatest.

Jacob Kalmakoff serves on the board of the Cloudbase Foundation, where he leads fundraising, communications, and project development. His experience working for the United Nations, including a posting in Kenya, gives him firsthand grounding in how institutional donors evaluate impact and accountability in the field. He's also a paraglider pilot who has flown in more than ten countries, which keeps him close to the communities CBF supports.
